The shock of losing your front teeth

A few months ago a patient attended my clinic with a longstanding infection associated with 2 of his upper front teeth. My investigations showed that it was impossible to treat these teeth, they had to be removed. The patient was obviously very surprised at this and did not expect to be losing teeth that were so crucial to his appearance and function. Our plan was to replace these 2 teeth with dental implants following treatment of the infection.

The patient relied heavily on this treatment to give him a natural and functional smile back. He was wearing a partial denture in the interim period whilst we waited for the implants to integrate. He realised how ineffective a partial denture is compared to natural teeth.

Perfect healing and perfectly natural looking teeth

After 3 months of healing, the implants were ready to be restored. Our lab technician, Stephen Green, was able to make the new teeth match exactly to the patient’s existing teeth. The slight wear and tear associated with his existing teeth was mimicked perfectly to give an absolutely natural appearance with the final restorations. Working to this standard requires precision and attention to detail, I am delighted that we met, and maybe exceeded, our patients high expectations.

As you can see from these images, the wear characteristics are mimicked perfectly and the teeth therefore look natural.
