When should you consider filler treatment? Now may be the time! – Blog by Dr Hannah Wilson

This is a common question I hear during patient consultations. People are often unsure at what age they can start having dermal filler (or any facial aesthetic/ Botox treatment!)

During the ageing process, our skin experiences sun damage, wrinkles, lines, and loss of volume. External factors increase signs of ageing such as smoking, sun beds, running and extreme diets. As we get older, you may notice that it’s impossible to get your youthful look back with skin care products alone. Now may be the time to do something so you can look as young as you feel!

Dermal fillers are quickly becoming one of the most popular facial rejuvenation procedures as they provide safe, effective and immediate results. Artistic placement of the dermal filler ensures natural, yet effective results.

There are many different treatments available depending on the result you would like to achieve. Areas that can be treated include: lips, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, nose, tear troughs, cheeks, chin and jawline definition. They are used in various ways to achieve the desired results, whether it is wrinkle reduction, to increase lost volume or to redefine and sculpt.

The most common reasons for choosing dermal filler treatment are:

  • Improve volume and definition of thinning lips
  • Reduce appearance of bags or wrinkles around the eyes, nose and mouth
  • Rejuvenate the skins appearance providing a youthful, fresh look

When to start dermal filler treatment?

If you are concerned with any of the areas above, dermal filler treatment may be for you! Don’t wait until the areas are beyond concern, dermal filler treatment can also act as a preventative procedure! It restores lost volume, stimulating collagen production, allowing the problem areas to rejuvenate.

What is dermal filler treatment?

Dermal filler treatment is semi-permanent, with results on average lasting 6-12 months. They provide immediate and effective results, with few risks and minimal downtime after treatment. The treatment is also reversible if required. This has all lead to dermal filler treatment becoming an increasingly popular cosmetic option.

Hyaluronic acid semi-permanent dermal fillers are by far the most popular today. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body and is lost as we age. Hyaluronic acid adds volume to the facial structures, creating a very natural appearance.

Everyone’s reason for facial aesthetic treatment is individual to them. It’s important to book a consultation with an experienced practitioner so that you understand any possible risks and ensure you address any concerns.

If you feel you are suffering from the signs of ageing resulting in drooping of the lower face, tell-tale eye-bags or loss of definition, dermal filler treatment may be for you! For more information on what could be done for you message me at
