I write this blog as we draw ever closer to completing our dental practice improvements. We have installed state-of-the-art dental machinery and surgeries to complement our CBCT scanner, intra-oral digital scanner and the education facility we use for training. Who is this for?
This is a question that becomes more relevant in dentistry than in most industries because we treat many NHS patients as well as patients who are independent from the NHS as well. In dentistry, for many years, the NHS patient has had limited options available to them when compared to the independently treated patient. This is due to NHS dentistry being modelled and funded to provide dental care within the NHS’s budget. In some cases these options on the NHS may not fulfil every patient’s requirement. For instance, treatment to have dental implants to replace missing teeth or to have adult orthodontic treatment is not readily available on the NHS. Does this mean we shouldn’t offer it to our NHS patients?
We take great pride in not pre-judging any of our patients therefore, all of our patients are given every single option to satisfy their dental treatment expectations. It means all of our patients, regardless of being an ‘NHS’ patient, will be provided with all of their treatment options and will have access to all of the state-of-the-art dental treatments and equipment that we are proud to have invested in at our clinic. I am aware of some practices that have separate waiting rooms for their ‘NHS’ patients and the independent patients. Is this the epitome of inequality?
We believe every patient should be treated equally and given the options to decide for themselves. We are proud to provide a high standard of dental care to all of our patients.
