Recently, a patient travelled all the way from Norwich to see me. He was nervous, quiet, and barely smiled. He had almost no teeth left, and the few that remained were riddled with chronic infections. His confidence had taken a serious hit, and he struggled to eat anything harder than soft bread.
He thought implants were off the table, “Not enough bone,” he’d been told. But we never take that at face value. We carried out a detailed assessment, took a CBCT scan, and planned a tailored solution involving bone grafting and dental implants. The goal? A fixed, natural-looking, permanent set of teeth, built to last.

Over the next six months, we worked closely together through every stage of treatment. Gradually, things changed. He started smiling more. His confidence grew. But the moment that really stayed with me was something he shared during a follow-up.
He’d been visiting an orchard and picked a fresh apple. For the first time in decades, he bit into it, no fear, no hesitation. “I can’t even remember the last time I did that,” he said. He savoured the moment. And I did too.
That right there, that’s why I do what I do. It’s not just about the teeth. It’s about restoring something bigger: confidence, joy, quality of life. It still blows me away how life-changing this work can be.
To my patient, thank you for trusting me and making that journey. And to anyone reading this who thinks they’re beyond help, you’re not. There’s always a way.
