It’s worth the wait…Full arch restoration using dental implants

Posted on 17th December 2022

This patient arrived to our clinic wanting to replace his missing and failing teeth with somehting that would be better than his current denture. He stated that he had worn his denture for many years however, he had been struggling with chewing and confidence in his smile over this period of time. He had learned to cope with his problems over the years however, as he continued to lose more teeth, his denture became more loose. Eventually, he decided to visit our clinic and pursue something better.

Dental implants as an option to replace missing teeth

We proposed dental implants to replace all of his teeth in both upper and lower arches. This was a man in his 70’s who was very fit and well. When considering his ideal smile design, we asked him to bring a photograph of himself when he was younger and had a smile he was ‘proud of’. The patient was very proud to bring with him pictures of himself from his younger years. Using this information we carefully recreated a smile that was customised to fit perfectly within his mouth.

This patient’s tooth loss was a consequence of periodontal disease which had led to bone and gum loss. This is the major cause of tooth loss and affects over 60% of the UK adult population. We carefully analysed his mouth with a CBCT scan and provided him with treatment to replace his missing bone and gum volume alongisde his treatment to have dental implants. By doing this we could confidently provide him with a healthy and stronger set of replacement teeth.

Bespoke smiles created using dental implants

Treatment such as this can take time, usually 6 months. The reason for this is that we take a meticulous approach to every stage of the treatment to ensure that the teeth are as customised to the patient’s smile charecteristics, personality and are designed to last as long as possible. During this time, all of our patients, including this patient, are provided with a good set of replacement teeth. The final smile cannot and must not be rushed, it is imperetive that the final set of replacement teeth conform to the patient’s natural way of chewing, smiling and skeletal anatomy.

None of the smiles we create at Infinity Dental Clinic are the same as the last one, every patient’s treatment is provided using a bespoke approach.
