Recently, we had the pleasure of treating a lovely patient who travelled all the way from Lancashire to see us. She came with one simple goal: she wanted to feel proud of her smile again.
When she first arrived, it was clear she’d been through a lot dentally over the years. She had several old crowns and a bridge that were no longer serving her well, a few failing teeth, and others that simply needed careful attention and a bit of thoughtful planning. Nothing about her case called for a rushed or one-size-fits-all solution. It needed time, honesty and teamwork.

We sat down together and talked everything through. One option was to remove all of her remaining teeth and start again with a full set of implant restorations. For some patients, that is the right path. But it is a significant step, and it isn’t always necessary.
The other option was more conservative: keep the teeth that still had good health and long-term potential, and only replace those that genuinely needed replacing. We discussed the pros and cons of both approaches in detail. She understood completely that “new” does not always mean “better”, and that preserving healthy natural teeth is often the wisest choice.
In her case, that is exactly what we did.
We placed dental implants to replace a small number of teeth that could not be saved. Alongside this, we provided carefully matched crowns and whitening treatment so that her implants and natural teeth blended seamlessly. The result was a full smile makeover, but without removing every single tooth.

For me, this is what modern dentistry should look like. A multidisciplinary approach, where our team come together and each bring their own expertise. Surgery, restorative work, aesthetics, hygiene care – every part planned carefully.
Most importantly, the outcome looks natural. Not overdone. Not artificial. Just healthy, confident and beautifully balanced.
What stays with me most is the trust she placed in us. Travelling such a distance is no small thing. We never take that lightly. To be chosen, to be trusted, and to be part of someone’s journey back to confidence is a privilege.
Cases like this remind us why we do what we do.
