Rob’s Smile Transformation: Replacing Failing Teeth with Same-Day Implants

This week, we’re sharing Rob’s journey—a patient who came to us with advanced periodontal disease affecting his upper teeth. Despite leading a healthy lifestyle and never smoking, Rob faced severe gum disease, a reminder that periodontal issues aren’t limited to smokers. In fact, studies show that up to 45% of UK adults have some form of periodontitis, and there’s a strong hereditary component that often goes overlooked.

Rob’s teeth were no longer saveable, but he wasn’t willing to accept a future without fixed teeth. With an important job and a busy professional life, going toothless—even temporarily—just wasn’t an option. That’s where our same-day dental implant approach made all the difference. We were able to remove his failing teeth, place implants, and fit a full set of fixed provisional teeth—all in one day. It’s a game-changer for patients who want to maintain function and confidence throughout their treatment.

To ensure Rob’s new smile had the best possible foundation, we carried out a comprehensive bone and gum graft. This step is vital when treating patients with previous periodontal disease. It helps protect the implants from the same risks that compromised the natural teeth.

We also paid close attention to the aesthetics. Using gum contouring techniques, we crafted a final result that looks and feels like natural teeth (FP1).
