When this lovely patient travelled to see us from Burnley with her partner, I knew immediately how much courage it had taken just to walk through our doors.
She was terrified of the dentist after difficult experiences in the past and had struggled with her teeth for most of her adult life. She felt embarrassed about their appearance, had become very conscious of her smile and was even having to be careful about what she ate.
One moment from her first visit really stayed with me. When we took her clinical photographs, she felt so self-conscious about her teeth that she didn’t even want her partner to look at them.
That tells you just how deeply dental problems can affect someone’s confidence.
All she wanted was to be able to smile again without worrying about her teeth or what other people might think.

After spending time listening to her concerns, understanding what she wanted and talking through the different full arch options available, she decided to replace all of her upper teeth with a fixed, full arch implant-supported bridge.
For me, this treatment is about so much more than simply replacing teeth.
We used our bespoke smile design software to carefully design a smile specifically for her, taking into account her individual facial characteristics, proportions and features. The aim was never to give her a smile that looked like “new teeth”. We wanted something beautifully natural, something that suited her and looked like it had always belonged to her.
And what a transformation.
Seeing someone who once didn’t even want her partner to look at photographs of her teeth finally able to smile freely and confidently is exactly why I love what I do.
Yes, we’ve given her strong, beautiful, fixed teeth. She can enjoy food again without constantly worrying. But the biggest change isn’t simply what you can see.
It’s how she feels.
