When this patient first walked into our clinic, she carried more than just a complicated dental history—she carried the distress of years of failed treatments, persistent discomfort, and disappointment.
Thirteen years ago, after receiving a new post crown, she suffered a severe accident—tripping and fracturing her jaw. A surgeon in York rebuilt her jaw and placed a dental implant. Unfortunately, after just five years, the implant began to fail due to recurring infections. The surgeon and another dentist, both attempted to manage the infection, but nothing worked. Eventually, the implant was removed at the Dental Hospital, and she was left with a denture.
She hated it.
The denture was removable and uncomfortable. It didn’t feel like her own teeth. She was later fitted with a bridge—but that, too, didn’t feel right. The gum remained receded, the adjacent tooth was sensitive, and the teeth on either side began to shift. Most frustrating of all, she was told that another implant wouldn’t be possible due to bone loss.
Then she was referred to us at Infinity Dental Clinic by one of our lovely patients. I reviewed her case and listened to her story. She was told the gum lines could never be even again. That she’d always have a visibly longer tooth. That this was as good as it was going to get.
I didn’t agree.
At Infinity Dental Clinic, we routinely take on cases considered too complex elsewhere. We’ve rebuilt bone and gum tissue for patients referred to us from all over the country. This case was no different—I knew we could give the patient a better solution.
I planned a staged procedure to rebuild the lost bone and carry out a connective tissue graft. These are advanced techniques that not every dentist is trained or equipped to do. But this is the work I’m most passionate about: restoring not just teeth, but confidence and comfort.
The trust this patient placed in me, especially after so many failed attempts elsewhere, meant a great deal. And I’m proud to say that trust paid off. The final result is stable, natural-looking, and—most importantly—she is delighted with how it looks and feels. No more pain, no more loose teeth, no more compromise.
This case is a reminder that even after years of dental setbacks, it’s not too late for a fresh start. With the right planning, expertise, and commitment, we can rebuild what was lost—and help our patients smile again with confidence.
