Turning Severe Gum Disease into a Strong New Beginning

This week I completed treatment for a patient who travelled all the way from Manchester to see us. She arrived worried, frustrated, and unsure about her future dental health. Advanced gum disease had already caused several teeth to become loose, and she feared that more would follow. The recession around her gums was another major concern. She felt that her smile was slipping away from her and she wanted a clear plan that would finally put her mind at ease.

After a full assessment, we talked through her options and agreed on a solution that would protect her long term health and give her confidence back. The teeth that could not be saved were replaced with permanent implant supported teeth, giving her strong, fixed replacements that feel and function like natural teeth. Alongside this, we treated the active gum disease to stop further deterioration and stabilise the teeth that remained.

Restoring her gumline was just as important. Gum grafting allowed us to rebuild lost tissue and bring her gum levels back to a natural and healthy position. Careful planning, precise techniques, and a constant focus on both health and aesthetics helped us create a realistic, harmonious result. Her new smile looks balanced, healthy and genuinely hers.

The photographs show how the gum shape and tone have been developed with great care. This case represents what so many of our patients face. Gum disease, mobility, recession and the fear of losing more teeth can be overwhelming, yet with the right approach the transformation can be remarkable.
