This patient attended our clinic with a long history of dental problems. She had several missing teeth and the remaining teeth were very loose due to advanced periodontal disease. She was worried about being left without any teeth, so we conducted a thorough assessment using our CBCT scanner. This allowed us to develop the best treatment plan for her individual needs.
The CBCT scan revealed a lack of bone was the reason that her teeth had become so loose. Bone loss is a gradual process and in the early stages, it can go undetected because it often causes no pain. In the advanced stages we often see patients suffering in this way whereby they have lost a few teeth and the remaining teeth are loose. These problems have a major impact on the patient’s life. They lose confidence in all the things many people take for granted, such as eating, speaking, smiling and laughing.
Our patient was provided with a plan to rebuild all of her missing bone to ensure her future replacement teeth had a strong foundation for long–term success. To achieve this, we placed six dental implants in each arch, which were then used to support a full arch of 12 teeth in each arch. This provided our patient with a full and functioning dentition. She can now enjoy all the things in life that she had been struggling with prior to having the treatment.
This smile had been customised in a way to optimise all the natural characteristics that our patient wanted. They looked and felt natural for her.
Was this treatment life changing for this patient?
