When J first came to see us, she was full of regret. After having three molar teeth removed, things began to unravel—her remaining teeth were becoming increasingly loose. It was exactly this kind of worry and decline that made every train journey from Lincolnshire worth it to her.
Her upper bridge, which splinted all of her top teeth, was beginning to fail. It spanned from the upper right premolar (UR4) to the upper left premolar (UL4), but every supporting tooth beneath it was mobile. Her scan showed severe bone loss.
Unfortunately, this is something we see far too often. Long-span bridges can seem like a smart fix at the time. They fill spaces, restore appearance and function, and seem stable—at first. But they often mask deeper issues: gum disease, bone deterioration, compromised teeth. And when one part goes, the entire structure tends to fail—and usually all at once.
That’s exactly what had happened. J could see it clearly in her pre-op X-rays—the bridge had reached its limit.
But there was a way forward. We planned a complete upper arch of dental implants. It allowed us to remove the failing teeth, treat the underlying bone loss, and rebuild her teeth from the ground up—with strength, function, and longevity.
The result?
She’s now chewing with confidence, smiling without hesitation, and has had zero issues. Most touching of all—she still travels by train from Lincolnshire for her reviews. That kind of trust means everything.
I’m genuinely over the moon with how this case turned out—and so is she.
